Do you still sell cassettes?

Yes!! Maxell continues to offer their classic UR90 and UR60 cassette tapes, which are available for purchase on our official Amazon page. These tapes have remained popular over the years among collectors, enthusiasts, and have even caught the attention of the younger generation, who never got the sensation of “holding music”. Whether you’re preserving old memories, creating mixtapes, or simply enjoying the iconic sound, Maxell’s UR series continues to be a reliable and high-quality recording option.

Will we bring back any old tape products?

We can no longer make our older cassette tapes, because our factories no longer have the equipment necessary to make the physical tapes. We stopped producing all of our tape products – the data storage tapes, the professional video tapes, etc. – and we outsource the tape for our few remaining audio tape products/customers. Right now, as far as we know, there is only one other company in the world that is still making magnetic recording tape for audio cassettes.

Although we really wish we could continue producing these iconic tapes, the demand for the product just doesn’t justify the production costs. That demand for those tapes dropped off many years ago, which is why we stopped the production of those tapes in the first place. Even though there is a small niche market for those tapes today, that tiny market is not enough to sustain a production facility and its associated costs.

This includes, but is not limited to, the following : XLII + XLII-S cassettes, MX + MX-S cassettes, UDXLII + UDXLI cassettes, LN cassettes, VHS tapes, and data cartridges.

Where can I get a Maxell poster?

The iconic Man in the Chair poster adorned the walls of countless college dorms in the ’80s, so it’s no surprise that our fans are eager to own a piece of that nostalgic memory. Unfortunately, they are no longer for sale. Your best chance at owning one of these beauties is by following @MaxellCorp on all social platforms, and being on the lookout for Giveaways! It is not uncommon to see a poster thrown in with other prizes.

How do I return an item that is still under warranty?

The first step is to contact Maxell’s Technical Support team. They are available Monday – Friday, 9AM-5PM ET (except Holidays) for any questions or concerns regarding your Maxell products. Please provide as much detail as possible and a team member will eagerly assist as soon as possible.

What to include in your return

All products that are returned to Maxell for warranty replacement consideration must include the following:

– the defective item
– a description of the problem
– a valid return address (with zip code)
– a valid contact number

Please allow 7-10 business days from the date we receive your return for your replacement product to arrive. If replacement product has not arrived after 15 business days, please contact Maxell Warranty Returns at warranty@maxell.com for assistance with tracking your return. When contacting our Warranty Returns Department, please include your first and last name, phone number, zip code, and the approximate date your package was sent.
