Charging the Case

To charge the case, plug the USB Type-C charging cable into the case and connect the USB-A to a computer or wall charger. When using for the first time, it is recommended to fully charge the earhooks in the charging case, for 15 full hours.

Charging the Earbuds

It is important to remember to remove the stickers located on the earhooks before attempting to charge them. Then, place the earhooks in the charging case. The red lights in the case will flash slowly to indicate that the earhooks are charging. The LEDs will turn off when fully charged.

Pairing a New Device

Remove the earhooks from the case, which will automatically tum the earhooks on. The blue LEDs on the earhooks will flash slowly, indicating they are in pairing mode. Select “Maxell OWS” from your device’s Bluetooth list, and pairing will then begin automatically. The flashing blue LEDs will tum off once you have successfully connected to your device. You will not have to do this process again, because your Bluetooth device will auto-connect to the earhooks during all future use.

How do I put them on?

Here are step-by-step instructions on how to put open wireless earhooks over your ear:

  1. Hold the hook : Take the wireless earhook and make sure you are holding it by the top of the hook piece. You should be holding it in such a way that the Maxell logo is facing outwards, and the small speaker is facing your ear.
  2. Position the hook: Gently slide the hook over your ear, ensuring it sits snugly but comfortably around the top and back of your ear. If done right, you should be able to see the Maxell logo resting over your ear canal (see reference image below).

FAQs

1. “Open Wireless” vs. “True Wireless” earbuds – What’s the Difference?

Open wireless earbuds are designed with an open fit that rests near or around the outer ear without sealing the ear canal, allowing ambient sounds to be heard while still providing audio playback. They are ideal for users who want to stay aware of their surroundings, offering comfort and a more natural listening experience.

In contrast, true wireless earbuds are fully wireless, with ear tips that fit snugly inside the ear canal, providing better sound isolation by blocking out external noise. True wireless earbuds are often preferred for better noise cancellation.

2. Can I use just one earbud at a time?

Yes, these earbuds support the use of just one bud at a time, leaving the other in the charging case. This is also a good way to ‘extend’ the battery life.

3. One earbud isn’t charging, what do I do?

If the earhooks are new, make sure you have removed the stickers off the earhooks. Next, make sure the charging case for your earbuds has been charged before your first use. If the problem persists, make sure each earbud is sitting on the corresponding prongs inside the case, allowing it to charge.

4. Can my earbuds get wet?

These earbuds are water-resistant, and not waterproof, meaning these earbuds can handle sweat and light rain but shouldn’t be submerged.
